Kyocera Luno (Cricket Wireless)

The Kyocera Luno for Cricket Wireless ($39.99 direct) is a simple flip phone. It's not for the tech-savvy, but it may be a good choice for users that live in Cricket's coverage area and just need a phone to make calls and send the occasional text message.

The Luno measures 3.7 by 1.9 by 0.7 inches (HWD) and weighs 3 ounces. There's a 1-inch display on the outside with 96-by-96-pixel resolution. The phone flips open to reveal large number keys and a 2-inch LCD with a low 128-by-160-pixel resolution.

The phone also features a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera. There's a modest Web browser, and you can download additional ringtones and games from Cricket's Web store. Battery life is rated at just over four hours of talk time.

The Luno is a tri-band 2G 1xRTT (850/1700/1900 MHz) CDMA device with no Wi-Fi. No-contract plans on Cricket start at $35 per month for unlimited voice calls and text messaging. This phone isn't for everyone, but it's a good deal if you live in Cricket's coverage area and don't require fast Internet for Web browsing.
