Pick any descriptor you like ? Facebook stock is down. And it does not seem to be going back up. On Friday, after analysts at Bank of Montreal and Bank of America-Merrill Lynch?cut price targets on Facebook stock, shares in the company hit?$18.14, the lowest since Mark Zuckerberg?rang the Nasdaq bell on May 18. Facebook shares are now 52 percent?below the initial IPO price, the Wall Street Journal reports.?

The decline, notes the AP,?"has been driven by a realization that the company's revenue isn't going to grow as rapidly as people envisioned during the breathless run-up to the IPO." In other words, there's the hype and now there's the reality. Meanwhile, a number of early Facebook investors have been rapidly unloading shares left and right; in November, Facebook employees will get a chance to sell their stock, too.?

Unsurprisingly, on business blogs, there's been plenty of talk of doom and gloom and shrinking prospects for the social network. But over at Business Insider, Henry Blodget advises the critics to take the long view.?"As I listen to all this whining, I have a simple question:?Didn't anyone even read Facebook's IPO prospectus?" Blodget writes.

"The answer, I can only assume, is 'no.'?Because if anyone had read the Facebook IPO prospectus," he continued, they'd know that Facebook's growth was already decelerating at the time of the IPO. Moreover, they'd know that "Facebook's social mission is more important to Mark Zuckerberg than Facebook's business," Blodget writes. "Facebook's business exists to support Facebook's product development, not the other way around."?

Florida Supreme Court to reprimand Broward judge

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

A Broward County judge is facing a public reprimand in part for calling his wife to the witness stand and questioning her.

The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the reprimand for Circuit Judge Dale C. Cohen but did not immediately set a date.

The unanimous ruling cited Cohen for violating several judicial canons, including allowing family relationships to influence his judgment.

Cohen's wife, Mardi Levy Cohen, is now a Broward County judge, but she was an unsuccessful candidate when her husband had her testify in 2009.

She testified on one of several motions by Stephen Melnick asking her husband to recuse himself from the lawyer's cases because Melnick had supported her opponent. The justices also cited Dale Cohen for having off-the-record conversations with his wife about the recusal requests.

Missouri University of Science and Technology gets new energy center director

Joseph Smith, the Laufer Chair of Energy at Missouri University of Science and Technology, will become director of Missouri S&T?s Energy Research and Development Center on Sept. 1, the university announced yesterday.

In his new role, Smith will be responsible for coordinating and leading various energy-related research activities with the approximately 35 faculty members at the university who are involved in energy-related research.

Smith studies next-generation hybrid energy systems to combine small modular nuclear reactors with conventional and renewable energy sources and the design and optimization of industrial-scale coal gasification systems. His other research interests include industrial gas flare design, process modeling and optimization, and process monitoring, control and operation.

"Dr. Smith brings a multidisciplinary expertise that will help the university build upon a solid foundation of energy research in innovative and forward-looking ways,? said Dr. K. Krishnamurthy, Missouri S&T vice provost for research, in a statement. ?I?m looking forward to working with Dr. Smith as S&T continues to lead the way forward in addressing some of our nation?s most critical energy challenges."

Smith joined Missouri S&T in July 2011 and will replace Mariesa Crow, who has served as the founding director of the energy center since its formation in 2006. Crow will continue her teaching and research activities as the Fred W. Finley Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering at S&T.

"Dr. Crow has provided tremendous leadership for our university?s multidisciplinary energy research efforts," Krishnamurthy said. "Under her leadership, Missouri S&T has grown an international reputation in a variety of energy-related research fields, including the power grid and smart grid research, renewable energy, and energy security."

NYC man gets 40 years to life for boy's murder

NYPD via AP

An undated photo provided by the New York City Police Department of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky.

By NBC News staff and wire services

A New York man was sentenced to 40?years?to life in prison on Wednesday, after he admitted to kidnapping and murdering an 8-year-old Brooklyn boy, Leiby Kletzky.

Levi Aron, 36, pleaded guilty on Aug. 9 to the grisly murder of Kletzky. The boy went missing July 11, 2011, while walking home alone from religious camp in Brooklyn and his body was found two days later, Reuters reported.

Aron will serve 25 years for murder, followed by 15 for kidnapping. In court on Wednesday, Aron said only one word, "no," when asked by the judge if he had anything to say about the killing.

Prosecutor Julie Rendelman read a letter from the Kletzky family, which they wrote prior to the killer's admission of guilt earlier this month:?"God gives us the strength to overcome these challenges," they wrote. "There is no way one can comprehend or understand the pain of losing a child." The letter goes on to say, "We close the door on this one aspect of our tragedy...may our son's soul rest in peace."

The judge granted a request from Aron's attorneys for protective custody in prison.

Aron, a hardware store clerk, kidnapped and took Kletzky to Monsey, N.Y., last July, NBCNewYork.com reported. After seeing missing child fliers of the boy, Aron said he panicked and suffocated him.

In Aron's freezer, detectives later found the boy's severed feet wrapped in plastic, while a cutting board and three bloody carving knives were found in the refrigerator. About a mile from Aron's apartment, the rest of Kletzy's body was found in bags inside a red suitcase in a trash bin, NBCNewYork.com reported.

The Associated Press, Reuters and WNBC's Andrew Siff contributed to this report.

Forensic Science: The Basics

With a large number of criminal investigation shows on TV such as CSI, Criminal Minds and Bones, many people have become fascinated with the forensic science profession. Many do not realize, however, the hard work and dedication that this position requires. Not only is this field extremely competitive, but organizations that work with people in this field look to hire only the best. With that being said, the educational requirements are beginning to get stricter as more and more people are trying to break into the field.

The forensic science field, otherwise known as forensics, includes the use of an extensive range of sciences in order to answer questions that the legal system has, usually regarding a crime of some sort. The legal system turns to them for help with identifying and convicting criminals. It their examinations and findings of forensic data that regularly verifies whether or not the suspects in a crime are guilt or innocent. Their responsibilities include observing the information and evidence of a crime and writing down their findings in order to provide a statement of their discoveries to a court of law. Other tasks include performing physical and chemical investigations on criminal evidence provided by some type of law enforcement organization which can be found at the scene of a crime, on a victim, in some cases, both. People in the forensic science field use an assortment of problem-solving techniques, mathematical ideologies, intricate tools, and microscopic probing methods to clarify the particulars of each part of evidence from a case.

There are a number of different positions that someone in the forensic field can have. Some work in strictly in laboratories testing all the evidence that was found, while others work directly at the scene of the crime in order to collect their analysis. Focuses of the area include clinical work, research, communication, computer sciences and much more. Some people in forensics chose not to specialize in a specific area, but would rather be considered a generalist. Most that choose this option are involved in a number of different tasks involving forensics or are involved in a new or rare forensic area of expertise.

Most people that are in the forensic profession work directly with the law enforcement run by city, county or state governments. If people are lucky enough, they can also work for several federal agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Secret Service; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms; the U.S. Postal Service; Health and Human Services; and the Criminal Intelligence Agency. Additionally, forensic scientists may be employed by other organizations outside of the government. They may chose to work in private forensic labs, medical examiners offices, hospitals, toxicology labs, medical examiner or coroner offices, colleges and universities, or as independent consultants.

People in forensics have a tough occupation and in order to stay current on all the new technology and methods, they are often encouraged to take a path of higher education. Unfortunately, the education and training requirements are different for every forensic position and for every state, but almost everyone in the forensic profession has earned at least a bachelors? degree. Many chose to earn their bachelors? degree in biology, chemistry or physical anthropology if their college of choice does not offer a forensic science program. An important factor that people interested in the forensic science fields should know is that the title of the degree they earn is not nearly as important as the courses they take throughout their education. Prospective forensic scientists should take college courses that give them experience in a lab and technological setting, such as biology, chemistry, physics, quantitative analysis, toxicology, computer sciences, psychology, criminal justice courses and statistics.

Depending on the forensic position someone is looking for; they may also be required to further their education by enrolling in a graduate program. Most graduate programs are more specific and will include different divisions of forensic science; therefore, this is the time when most students decide what to specialize in. Many programs allow students to focus on areas such as forensic archeology, forensic pathology, or body identification. Many times, labs require a person to get a masters degree for advanced positions in the forensic field such as a lab technician leader or supervisor, or someone who specializes in DNA analysis or ballistics. Most positions only require a masters? degree; however, people who are interested in teaching should continue on to earn their PhD. Also, everyone in the forensic field are expected to continuously update their training in order to maintain their various certifications and to keep current with all of the new tools, technology and techniques used in the field.

And now, higher education institutions have made it even easier for people to earn a degree in forensic science. A number of schools have created online degree programs that allow students to earn their associates, bachelors or masters degree without having to ever step foot on a college campus. Online programs allow students to complete their work on their own time, which is great for those people who have a full time job, or a family and do not have time to attend class through a traditional college setting. Online programs also benefit students who live in areas that do not have a college nearby. Students could possibly earn their degree from a college that is all the way across the country, if they wanted. That means that students have more options for deciding what degree program is right for them and will give them the best quality education for their specialty. Also, many times online degree programs cost less than a traditional degree program and take less time to complete.

Public Service Degrees has recognized that many people desire the opportunity to go back to school, so we have teamed up with a number of regionally accredited colleges all across the country to help those people reach their goal. All of the programs we offer are 100% online and are offered by colleges that are known for their quality education. Public Service Degrees has several programs specifically for people interested in forensic science, such as a BA Social and Criminal Justice-Forensics or an MBA in Criminal Justice.

Booking Hotel Accommodation Online Safely

1 day ago, in Travel & Play

Me & My MacAs with any product, service or information we require these days, the internet also provides us with a multitude of websites offering their accommodation booking services for hotels and holiday destinations across the world. It is estimated that up to 60% of reservations are done online. Yet, there are also still a mentionable number of people who are understandably too skeptical about entrusting their accommodation arrangements and money to someone they have never met. Inserting a credit card number onto a web page and accepting our information is safe and will be kept secret takes a whole lot of trust.

Even those who fairly regularly purchase online will often stumble across a website offering exactly what they want at an unbeatable price, but the website or company name is not known to them and immediately doubt sets in. Not only is the existence of scams a reality, but even if the website or business is a legitimate one, how can we be sure that particular website has the ability to protect the information we provide and in particular our credit card numbers?

When booking online tours, flights or travel packages, you may have to check a number of different providers. So even if one is legitimate in a package, you may end up with a dud booking. Ensuring your adventurous Fiji holiday or romantic rail journey through Europe is legit is not so hard when you look for identification and tourism board memberships.

ID Authority Credentials

There are several online security companies specializing in validating and authenticating websites and online businesses. You may recognize names like Verisign, Entrust, Thawte, Comodo and Godaddy to name a few of the bigger ones. Online business can apply to such security companies to validate their websites. A stringent check is then done to determine the authenticity of the website before the security company will issue an ID authority certificate and embed this on the particular website.

Most of the time you will notice the certificate at the bottom of the website displaying the security company name and words like ?authentic and secure?. You should be able to open the certificate by clicking on it which will reveal the applicable information and credentials about the online business and the confirmation by the security company that the website belongs to a legitimate entity. At the same time, the security company will also indicate that you are insured for a certain amount when relying on the information supplied by them on the ID authority certificate. If you really want to take it one step further you could now contact the security company and confirm that they have issued the certificate to the particular website. Any website used to trading online should carry a certificate like this.

SSL or TLS Certification

SSL is short for Secure Socket Layer and TLS stands for Transport Layer Security.? These are cryptographic protocols and protect the integrity of information being sent over the internet. In short, it encrypts or scrambles your personal details like credit card numbers when sent to a third party online. In most cases the ID authority certificate we spoke about above will indicate whether a website uses this technology to protect the information you sent to it.

A simple way to check if a particular important web page like the one where you have to insert your credit card number is SSL protected is to look at the address bar where it usually says www.http://.? If you are on a secure page, this part should have an S added at the end ? https://. You should also notice that the colour of the address bar changes, usually to blue or green. You should never provide a credit card number on an unprotected page and more important; never e-mail your details to someone over an unsecure connection.

Agent License Number

As mentioned earlier, many people choose to use the service of large and well-known brand names when booking hotel accommodation online as this in itself is a guarantee of your safety. However, there are many legitimate and very safe smaller websites sometimes being able to offer a very good deal, but because they are less known we are skeptical of using them. There will be nothing wrong with asking them for their travel agent, tourism bureau, authority number or insurer number in the case of travel insurance. Once again, you are now able to check their membership with the appropriate body.

Confirm Booking Directly (Before Payment)

The reason we often do not book directly with the hotel is of course because we can get a better deal by booking with an agent, whether online or otherwise. In many cases, the website we use is an automatic booking system, meaning you choose your hotel from the website, choose your room and insert your dates of stay on the website. The website will immediately and automatically confirm the price, refer you to their payment page, you insert your credit card number and the deal is done. When you use a website like this and want to make sure all is safe, simply contact the hotel and ask them if they have a contractual agreement with the website or business.

However, there are also those websites who handles the above booking process manually. In these cases the website should be making your accommodation reservation first and then provide you with a link to a secure payment page. This in turn allows you the opportunity to contact the hotel direct, confirm that you reservation instructions have been carried out and only then do you pay.

Family of slain US activist awaits verdict

JERUSALEM (AP) ? Almost a decade after their daughter was crushed to death by an Israeli army bulldozer as she tried to block its path in a Gaza Strip conflict zone, Rachel Corrie's parents are preparing for a judge's ruling in their high-profile civil lawsuit against the military.

They hope Tuesday's court decision will conclude a case that's turned their daughter into a rallying cry for pro-Palestinian activists, taken years of their life and drained their savings.

"We are here with a great deal of anticipation for Tuesday," said Corrie's mother, Cindy, 64, a homemaker and musician from Olympia, Washington. "We are hoping for some accountability here for what happened to Rachel."

Corrie, a pro-Palestinian activist, was 23 when she was killed in March 2003 while she and other activists sought to block an Israeli military bulldozer they believed was about to demolish Palestinian homes in the Gaza border town of Rafah. The driver has said he didn't see Corrie, and the death was accidental.

The Israeli army had been undertaking systematic house demotions in the densely populated border area, trying to halt shooting and mortar attacks against soldiers and Jewish settlers who used the route. The house destruction sparked international condemnation at the time.

While several foreign activists were killed or wounded in confrontations with the Israeli military during the last decade, Corrie's case has taken on special meaning for Palestinian activists.

For her supporters, she became a symbol of what they say is Israel's harsh repression of nonviolent protest to occupation. They saw in her a young middle class American who died believing that she was defending the homes of strangers. She was a passionate writer whose works showed how deeply moved she was by the suffering she saw around her.

Corrie's parents published those letters, and artists made a play about her life.

Corrie belonged to the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement, whose activists enter conflict zones and try interfere with activities of Israel's military. Supporters of Israel argue that Corrie, like thousands of other foreign activists, recklessly chose to risk her life.

"Rachel Corrie was injured as a result of her prohibited action, for which she is solely responsible, due to her considerable negligence and lack of caution," the Justice Ministry said in a statement.

The family's case is the first civil lawsuit of a foreigner harmed by Israel's military to conclude in a full civilian trial. Others have resulted in out-of-court settlements.

Since the Corries went to court in 2005, there have been 15 hearings and testimony from 23 witnesses.

They hope the court will apportion blame to the bulldozer driver and his superiors, who have all been cleared of wrongdoing in a military court.

The Corries are seeking a symbolic $1 in damages, along with compensation for the money they've spent bringing the case to trial.

The Corries said their case underscored how difficult it was for families to pursue justice for loved ones killed by Israeli forces.

Criminal convictions of soldiers, who are tried in military courts, are rare. In one case, an Israeli military court in 2005 convicted a former soldier of manslaughter in the shooting of a British activist, Tom Hurndall.

Israeli rights group B'Tselem said in 304 cases where soldiers killed Palestinians, only nine indictments were filed. Another 27 cases were awaiting a decision of the military advocate general and 14 cases were under investigation.

It has "conveyed a message to commanders and soldiers that there is little chance they will be held accountable," said Sarit Michaeli of B'Tselem. The Israeli military declined to comment.

The Corries said they spent over $200,000 of their own savings to fly in witnesses, attend hearings and translate over 2,000 pages of court transcripts. They were supported by an army of volunteers, including lawyers, translators and media activists.

"We found ourselves in a war of attrition with a state against a family. That's what it feels like," said Rachel's father Craig, 65, a Vietnam war veteran and a retired life insurance specialist.

One of the last photographs of Rachel Corrie shows a blonde woman staring pensively into the distance, her pen poised above her notebook, a gray scarf around her neck. It's often turned into a graffiti painting on walls in Gaza.

She's frozen in time, said her father Craig.

"Just think how she would have grown. She would be 33 years old now. And yet in her mind she stopped growing when she was almost 24. It's a strange sort of thing."

Are the Aluminum Windows Energy-Efficient Enough | ej-fransen.com

Aluminum frames for windows are today widely used in homes, offices and many other structures because of their wide range of very desirable features. Although there seems to be tussle between the aluminum windows and other types of windows, such as the wooden windows, aluminum still has many favorable characteristics that make it the material of choice for many homeowners and contractors.

Aluminum is a metal that is shiny and relatively light compared to other metals such as iron. It is generally used in making window frames that can then be painted into many interesting different colors, and that can also be made into many styles and designs. Due to its ability to bend, it can be fashioned into many designs that are capable of taking any shape that one would want their windows to take. In addition aluminum has a great clean and neat finish unlike other materials such as wood which may sometimes look unfinished and untidy.

Other great features of aluminum include its ability to keep out noise thus protecting one from excessive external noise pollution. Further it has the remarkable feature of being strong and sturdy thus making it more durable and secure. This means that it greatly helps in keeping any burglars and trespassers out of one?s home. In addition it does not crack or rust and rot as many other types of materials do, such as wood, a feature that makes it easier to manage and maintain.

Although a few years back aluminum was considered a poor choice for an energy-efficient window replacement, this has greatly changed since nowadays manufacturers make these frames with a thermal break that ensures that no heat escapes from inside the house. This thermal break is especially efficient while being used with double paned or triple paned glasses. In addition this combination makes the aluminum windows more secure compared to other windows. Consequently aluminum is now a fully energy-efficient material that one can safely use without any undue concerns.

Aluminum can also be styled into many types of designs from traditional to bi-folding to sliding and stacking. In addition, in cases where one would want to match their windows to their doors aluminum easily gives one freedom to do just that. This material can also be structured into thin and elegant strips making the windows look modern and well designed. In addition one can then squeeze in any other home improvement designs next to the frames more easily.

Due to this handy feature called the thermal break, aluminum is now taking a huge share of the replacement windows market. Moreover it has many other quality characteristics that make it very attractive to most contractors and homeowners. Today there are numerous aluminum designs that are entering the market every day, because most people are increasingly turning to aluminum as the material of choice when it comes to window frames.

I want to solder new faucet in, but not licensed-need ur help ...

Question by Kraze: I want to solder new faucet in, but not licensed-need ur help professional plumbers?
I have extreme experience in arlington ma plumbing, among other trades and I want to install a new shower faucet and such, but the apartment wont? let me cause I dont? hold a license in this state,

Since this is an condo I never encountered this. I got the hotwater figured out, question is the main cold supply. But is there some way around this?? perhaps i could cut the pipe, then quickly attach a compression shutoff supply then go from there. I would think this would be an idea, I?m going to test this theory with another supply with a shutoff before I attempt but main importance is homeowners dont? care, and are really fustrated that about the situation, and said if i can get aroudn it to do it, They own the condo, and it should be their right to do it.
So any suggestions from professional plumbers?
Yep thats right, years of experience, over 14 to be exact, electrical, arlington ma plumbing hvac, roofing, new homes, additions remodeling, foundations,
Now im experienced as in own a ?sucessfull? company, I do all trades therefore am not master of none. I know arlington ma plumbing many roughins many many remodels, jacuzzis, sunken and surface, copper sweating no problem,
So in saying this, Its a condo, as in you have to jump through hoops, I am out of state, visiting family. They want their bathroom remodeled, All I need is the water off for 5 minutes, to solder a shutoff on there, But they want a licensed Arlington MA Plumber. NOW?If I didnt? know what I was doing then ok, perhaps, but only hold back is fact that they want that paper, Where Im at they wants $ 350 just to come out. And the reason im in a hurry is because I need to get back to my state so I can continue my companys business.
Now I have always been able to shut off water everywhere I been, this is new to me. Just looking for solutions
Well tech, by your name Im taking it you could be experience in computers not home improvement, so this question is out of your league. I asked for PROFESSIONAL PLUMBERS but guess the points for any answer sufficed.
If there are NO real answers to this solutions then leave it at that. I dont? care if the question isn?t right with you, What isnt? right is not allowing me to shutoff the water in order to do the work. I don?t care who inspects the work or otherwise, but let me tell you about licensed professionals they are nothing but overpriced labor cause they know they are the only ones allowed(not qualified) to do the work. The reason behind this is because city inspectors are to lazy to actually take responsibility for their inspections, but im not goign to get into this.
Point is serious question, PROFESSIONAL
Point is seriuos question, Professional opinions only. water off, NO PROBLEM,
So yeh years of experience, and this is a question way beyond your intelligence.Your answer told me nothign I already didn?t know, drywall? pipes behind a wall? are you kidding me? Yeh, its all goign bye, the tub/vanity/sink, floor, is bye, new electric, so yeh this is a bathroom renovation, which is why I need an answer from experience.
Now?car dude, Yes I understand the place is shared, the pipes that come into their bathroom they own, they own shower, they own the supply. You could be right about what you say, could be and if you are a true home contractor i?ll respect your answer. But with all due respect im asking for a solution to my problem, if there is not a solution, then so be it, if its never been done then great. thats why im researching my QUESTION. Any Plumbers out there?
Oh yeh forgot one more thing, techie I know that compression fitting shouldnt? be used inside walls, and are made for a temporary fix. This is commonsense 101, however
1. there is access to the arlington ma plumbing
2. this is a temporary fix until they either move, or they grant me the right to turn off the water, However I 85% disagree with you about the fittings not being behidn a wall. I have renovated old homes back in the 50?s. Even though they are not regulated by most codes, people and PROFESSIONAL plumbers do ocassionally use these. I say 85% cause they can hairline crack under pressure, but since there is access guess what???it will be fine?just use pipe dope.
so do your research before answering, and dont? assume I dont? know how to do something that I say I do.
Ok got a solution to my problem. But I want to make somethign clear for anyone who looks at this. When somebody ask a question they are asking for an answer, DO NOT give your opinions on whether it should or shouldnt? be done, unless they ask. If you do not know the solution keep your MOUTH SHUT! You are just making yourself look stupid.
now for the money it cost for a Arlington MA Plumber I got a new tool and solution to future problems, I feel so sorry for people who rely on others to fix problems in their life, always taking the easy way out by having someone do it for them. Will never have the feeling of accomplishment.
The ONLY thing a licensed Arlington MA Plumber can do that i can?t 100% of the time is use his license to get approval. Does not make him ANY more qualified than me.

Answer by Tech Dude
You are asking for trouble and a possible lawsuit and eviction. The shower faucet is typically inside the wall, which means that you?ve got to knock a hole in the wall that will later need to be patched. Then you?ve got to remove the old faucet and install the new faucet. This is a major undertaking and you?ve got to know what you are doing.

You propose to cut the cold water pipe and quickly attach a compression shutoff valve. There are at least two things wrong with this idea. First, you should never cut into a pipe unless the water is turned off. You may think you can quickly cap off the open pipe, but you?ve also got a good chance of causing extensive water damage. The second mistake is that you should never, ever use a compression fitting in a concealed space inside a wall. The problem is that a leak could develop with a compression fitting, and you would not know it until the damage had been done.

I suggest that perhaps you don?t have extreme experience in arlington ma plumbing at all. You should not attempt this project by yourself. It would be far cheaper by the time you are done to have hired a licensed professional.

Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!

Collect Information Ahead of Marketing Your Real-estate

Ahead of putting your home available on the market, be sure you realize how to do it effectively. You?ll realize that there is certainly significantly to read and discover on the internet and in publications. A lot of people don?t have the enough time to review every thing. This article provides many functional and successful ideas that will help you make the best decisions regarding your real-estate sale.

When marketing a house, you need to remember that customers don?t want faucets which are rusty and piping that happen to be leaky. When the plumbing inside your home isn?t in good shape, you might shock away future consumers.

When you?re accepting provides from possible purchasers, it is best to attempt to partner with them. You may not receive the price you anticipated for your home. Meet with a professional property representative to find out the things they believe that your home is really worth in order to promise you don?t try and more than or beneath sell.

Set price ranges which are fair whenever you offer your home. Examine components inside your immediate area and after that placed your personal valuation somewhere between the greatest and also the least expensive. When you put your home in the marketplace using a high asking selling price, you may ultimately need to reevaluate and lower the purchase price.

A bidding war, however a bit intimidating, is a great place to suit your needs, as the seller. By price the property competitively taking into consideration the area it is in, interest will be shown by far more potential buyers. A bidding war between several buyers could bring about a higher selling price for you.

When selling your house, it is a greater and a lot more affordable technique to basically cleanup your lawn, rather than choose expensive landscape designs. The flowers and landscape designs features you pick will probably be your very own preference rather than actually a thing the latest users will like. Only bushes and older trees and shrubs need to stay. Even so, you should keep your lawn looking clean.

The recommendations supplied in this post will hopefully show helpful. Take advantage of the information that applies best to you. Even though there is a lot to consider when offering a bit of real estate property, enough time spent studying what is essential will definitely pay off!

Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands braced for torrential rains on Thursday as Tropical Storm Isaac whipped up waves as high as 10 feet (3 meters) in the Caribbean and threatened to become a hurricane that could take a shot at Florida just as Republicans gather for their national convention. (AP Photo/Ricardo Arduengo)

(AP) ? Tropical Storm Isaac strengthened slightly as it spun toward the Dominican Republic and Haiti, but seemed unlikely to gain enough steam early Friday to strike the island of Hispaniola as a hurricane.

The storm's failure to gain the kind of strength in the Caribbean that forecasters initially projected made it more likely that Isaac won't become a hurricane until it enters the Gulf of Mexico, said Eric Blake, a forecaster with U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

"We think it could become a hurricane on Monday," Blake said late Thursday. "It would be somewhere over the Gulf of Mexico."

The latest five-day forecast showed the storm's path shifting to the west, possibly making landfall near the Alabama-Mississippi border, Blake said. But he said it was "too early to know" the exact course and stressed that Florida's Gulf Coast, including Tampa, the site of next week's Republican National Convention, was still in the forecast cone.

The storm dumped heavy rain Thursday across eastern and southern Puerto Rico and whipped up waves as high as 10 feet (3 meters) in the Caribbean as it churned across the region.

Friday morning, Isaac was centered about 175 miles (280 kilometers) south-southwest of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and its maximum sustained winds had increased to near 50 mph (80 kph). It was moving west near 15 mph (24 kph), according to the hurricane center.

In flood-prone Haiti, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe urged people to avoid crossing rivers, to tape their windows, and to stay calm, saying "panic creates more problems."

Lamothe and other Haitian officials said the government had set aside about $50,000 in emergency funds and had buses and 32 boats on standby for evacuations.

But among many Haitians, the notion of disaster preparedness in a country where most people get by on about $2 a day was met with a shrug.

"We don't have houses that can bear a hurricane," said Jeanette Lauredan, who lives in a tent camp in the crowded Delmas district of Port-au-Prince.

About 400,000 people remain in settlement camps comprised of shacks and tarps in the wake of Haiti's devastating 2010 earthquake.

So far, Isaac itself had caused no reported injuries or deaths, but police in Puerto Rico said a 75-year-old woman died near the capital of San Juan on Wednesday when she fell off a balcony while filling a drum with water in preparation for the storm.

In the Dominican Republic, authorities began to evacuate people from low-lying areas but encountered resistance.

"Nobody wants to leave their homes for fear they'll get robbed," said Francisco Mateo, community leader of the impoverished La Cienaga neighborhood in Santo Domingo, the capital.

The Dominican government planned to close all of the country's nine airports by dawn Friday, said Alejandro Herrera, civil aviation director. Schools closed by Thursday afternoon.

The storm's approach prompted military authorities at the U.S. base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to cancel pretrial hearings for five prisoners charged in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. They also evacuated about 200 people, including legal teams and relatives of Sept. 11 victims.

Blake, the U.S. forecaster, said that while Isaac hadn't strengthened much in the Caribbean, it could gain power as it moves away from Cuba. "When it moves back over water, it has a chance to restrengthen," he said.

Organizers of next week's Republican National Convention in Tampa were working closely with state and federal authorities on monitoring storm as they prepared for the arrival of 70,000 delegates, journalists and protesters.

"We continue to move forward with our planning and look forward to a successful convention," convention CEO William Harris said in a statement.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said RNC officials had consulted with state, local and federal authorities and there were no plans to cancel the convention.

Out in the eastern Atlantic, another tropical storm, Joyce, was downgraded to a tropical depression late Thursday, and posed no threat to land. The hurricane center in Miami said Joyce had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and that it was becoming disorganized.

Rockford Park District announces Golf Hall of Fame inductees ...

PRESS RELEASE

ROCKFORD, IL ? At a news conference today, the Rockford Park District announced the newest members that will soon be officially welcomed into the Rockford Area Golf Hall of Fame. The following people/groups will be inducted into the 2012 Golf Hall of Fame: Steve Benjamin, John Alastair Robertson, and Tiger Woods Foundation.

In 2005, the Rockford Area Golf Hall of Fame began as a way to recognize, preserve, and promote the heritage of golf in the Rockford area. The Hall of Fame honors the contributions and accomplishments of individuals who are worthy of recognition and are examples for others to emulate. Inductees are selected through careful consideration by screening and selection committees comprised of knowledgeable golf experts representing area groups and organizations, including previous Hall of Fame inductees.

The Golf Hall of Fame Play Day and Induction Ceremony Dinner takes place Monday, September 24, 2012, and is presented by Edward Jones. The event is open to the public.

2012 Golf Hall of Fame Inductees

Steve Benjamin

Steve Benjamin has been a fixture in the Rockford golf scene for decades. He was a member of the 1968 Guilford Vikings golf team that finished second in the Illinois State Championship. In September 2012, the 1968 golf team was inducted in the Guilford High School Hall of Fame. While attending Rock Valley College in 1968?1970, Steve was a member of a conference champion golf team where he qualified for nationals and tied for medalist honors. Steve continued his collegiate career at the University of Northern Colorado, where he was one of the golf team's top five players. The UNC Bears were conference champions, and Steve was team captain. The biggest team victory came in 1972, when the Bears beat the US Air Force Academy for the first time in school history, with a team total of 279 (Steve shot a 79).

In 1973, Steve turned pro and worked as a club professional for the next four years in Colorado and Texas.

In 1977, he assumed the role of head coach for his alma mater, Rock Valley College. Under his guidance, RVC garnered over 60 team victories, including 15 regional championships, and the team advanced to the NJCAA nationals for seven straight years, earning two NJCAA Division III national championships; Steve was named NJCAA Division III National Golf Coach of the Year. Other credentials include four years finishing in second place at the NJCAA Division III National Championships and coaching 20 NJCAA Division III All-Americans.

After receiving his amateur status back, Steve continued his competitive career in Rockford by winning the Ballard Memorial in 1983 and 1986, and the Winnebago County Amateur in 1986. Another highlight was at the 1985 Greater Rockford Men's Golf Classic, when Steve finished one shot behind champion Chris Beto.

John Alastair Robertson

John Robertson first began golfing at age 13, and had a natural ability right from the start. Over the next four years, John played golf nearly every day of the summer with his boyhood best friend, Chris Leighty. Sinnissippi Golf Course was John's home course, and he didn't play another golf course until he was 16.

When John attended East High School, he opted to play football instead of golf, and was also on the wrestling team, where he was captain in his senior year. In the summer, though, golf was his game of choice. After graduation, John started playing pretty regularly, and that was when he was bitten by the "golf bug."

After high school, John worked at Sinnissippi Golf Course as a cashier, enrolled at Rock Valley College for the fall semester, and played golf for two years for Coach Steve Benjamin. After RVC, John attended the University of Iowa, and played in local tournaments during his college days, which garnered him his first win in the 1986 Ledges Invitational.

During John's competitive days, one could find him practicing on the Sandy Hollow Golf Course putting green during his lunch hour or spending hours at Elliot Golf Course driving range working on his game. John was a fixture on the local competitive scene in the late ?80s and early ?90s, winning the Melvin Ballard several times, the Greater Rockford Men's Golf Classic four times, the Ledges Invitational four times, and won several other area golf tournaments. Due to an increased work schedule, John stepped away from golf. Returning to golf in 1997, John won the Prairie View Gold Medal and regained the Ledges title in 2000 and 2001.

In 2006, John and his wife Mary Beth left the Rockford area and moved to Dayton, Ohio, where John accepted a position with GE. John still plays golf regularly, and maintains a scratch handicap. He has played in the Dayton Metro three times over a six-year period. John's best finish is fifth place. Most recently, John returned to the Forest City to participate in the 2012 Gold Medal Classic, where he tied for second place.

Tiger Woods Foundation

It seems like only yesterday the Tiger Woods Foundation (TWF) was first in Rockford, but it has been more than 10 years. The 2001 TWF Clinic and Exhibition generated over $154,000 in grants to area youth golf groups to expand and enhance their golf lesson programs. These grants were restricted for certain use, and no funds were to be allowed to construct any golf facility, but this did not deter golf enthusiasts from starting a fundraising campaign that would lead to the construction of two wonderful facilities - Ingersoll Learning Links, and The First Tee AMCORE Learning Facility at Patriots' Gateway. Both locations helped grow the next generation of golfers.

While the construction campaign was underway, golf programs started to bloom. Through the Tiger Woods Foundation grants, golf was now being taught in Rockford Park District summer playground programs, Kid Zones, and in various Therapeutic Recreation programs. The Golf Services Department expanded their lesson program and hired a PGA Teaching Professional to implement the expanded programs. The RSGA Friday night program was now using PGA Professionals to instruct youth, and Beloit Merrill Community

Center enhanced their golf programs that reach youth at risk. From 2001 to 2004, Rockford Park District youth golf programs increased by 78% with more than 4,600 registrations compared to 2,584 in 2001, thanks to the funds from the Tiger Woods Foundation.

In 2004, the Tiger Woods Foundation returned to Rockford for the TWF "In the City" Festival and Clinic. Funds raised from the 2004 event generated another $40,000 to further enrich golf programs for youth. The Foundation was very impressed with the implementation of the grant program and the development of the Ingersoll Learning Links in 2005, and awarded an additional $18,130 to the Park District in a one-time grant. These funds were earmarked to help the RSGA continue their Friday night youth program, purchase a golf cart to be used exclusively at Ingersoll Learning Links, and $5,000 helped construct the Ingersoll Learning Links gazebo. This is the first and only time in TWF history a construction grant was awarded to a TWF clinic site.

The Tiger Woods Foundation has shown unwavering support for youth golf in the Forest City. The area now boasts two wonderful golf learning facilities that share the great game of golf with more than 1,000 youth participants in programs. More than 3,800 youth also first experience golf through the PGA In-School First Swing program or Rockford Park District summer playground programs.

AP Exclusive: Romney uses secretive data-mining

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Building upon its fundraising prowess, Mitt Romney's campaign began a secretive data-mining project this summer to trove through Americans' personal information ? including their purchasing history and church attendance ? to identify new and likely wealthy donors, The Associated Press has learned.

The project employs strategies similar to those the business world uses to influence the way Americans shop and think. Now they're being used to sway presidential elections. The same personal data consumers give away ? often unwittingly when they swipe their credit cards or log into Facebook ? is now being used by the people who might one day occupy the White House.

For Romney's data-mining project, which began as early as June, the Republican candidate quietly turned to a little-known but successful analytics firm that previously performed marketing work for a colleague tied to Bain & Co., the management-consulting firm that Romney once led.

The head of Buxton Co. of Fort Worth, Texas, chief executive Tom Buxton, confirmed to the AP his company's efforts, which help Romney identify potentially wealthy and previously untapped Republican donors across the country. The Romney campaign declined to discuss on the record its work with Buxton or the project's overall success.

There are no records of payments to Buxton from Romney's campaign, the Republican National Committee or a joint fundraising committee. Under federal law, companies cannot use corporate treasury funds or resources, such as proprietary data analysis, for in-kind contributions to federal campaigns.

The effort by Romney appears to be the first example of a political campaign using such extensive data analysis. President Barack Obama's re-election campaign has long been known as data-savvy, but Romney's project appears to take a page from the Fortune 500 business world and dig deeper into available consumer data.

Buxton said he's working for the Romney campaign because he wants "to be on the winning team."

He once worked with a former Romney business partner to provide insights, for example, about where Petco should open a new pet-supply store to maximize profits. In addition to Buxton, the data-mining project was described to the AP by a Romney fundraiser who spoke on condition of anonymity because the fundraiser did not want to face repercussions for describing internal campaign processes.

Businesses use those kinds of analytics firms to answer key questions for clients, such as where to build a retail store or where to mail pamphlets touting a new product. The analysis doesn't directly bring in campaign contributions, but it generates the equivalent of sales leads for Romney's campaign.

The project relies upon a sophisticated analysis by powerful computers of thousands of commercially available, expensive databases that are lawfully bought and sold behind the scenes by corporations, including details about credit accounts, families and children, voter registrations, charitable contributions, property tax records and survey responses. It combines marketing data with what is known in this specialized industry as psychographic data analysis, which tries to ferret out Americans' consumer behavior and habits.

An early test analyzed details of more than 2 million households near San Francisco and elsewhere on the West Coast and identified thousands of people who would be comfortably able and inclined to give Romney at least $2,500 or more.

An AP analysis this week determined that Romney's campaign has made impressive inroads into even traditionally Democratic neighborhoods, collecting more than $350,000 this summer around San Francisco in contributions that averaged $400 each. High-dollar donors have been essential to Romney's election effort, unlike Obama, who relies on more contributors giving smaller amounts.

Romney and the GOP have out-fundraised Obama's re-election effort for the past three months.

The fate of the presidency may depend on who raises more money in the campaign, whose cost for the first time is approaching $2 billion. That figure includes hundreds of millions of dollars spent by super political action committees that accept unlimited and in some cases effectively anonymous contributions from millionaires, companies, labor groups and others to pay for television campaign advertisements across the nation.

Buxton confirmed that the data-mining project began with the help of Dick Boyce, Romney's former Bain & Co. colleague, after Romney joined fundraising forces with the Republican National Committee. Buxton expressed such confidence in his business and analysis methods that, in nearly two decades of running his firm, he told AP he has always been able to answer essential questions for customers.

"I can look at data of any kind and say, 'I want to know who that $100 donor could be,'" Buxton said. "We look at data of any kind."

Obama's campaign employs its own form of data analysis to lure potential supporters, via Facebook and Twitter, to fine-tune messages for supporters and potential donors. The Obama campaign declined to comment on its internal fundraising practices, although Buxton said it doesn't work with Obama's campaign.

Romney's campaign has also been secretive about how it raises its money, and most fundraising events have been closed to the press. Unlike Obama, Romney's campaign has declined to publicly identify the names of major fundraisers, known as bundlers, who have helped amass much of its money. Details of this project have not been made public until now.

Buxton is not listed as a vendor in any of the campaign's finance reports submitted to the Federal Election Commission, although some campaigns do not report expenses until the vendor sends them a bill.

When AP initially asked Buxton about its work for Romney, it declined to acknowledge that it helped raise money for the RNC, even as its own website displayed a prominent log-in page for "2012 presidential donor prospecting." That web address contained the letters "RNC" ? a common abbreviation for the Republican National Committee. After the AP's continued questioning, the company replaced the "RNC" letters in the web address with a generic "campaign" the next day.

This is not Buxton's first foray into politics: In 2006, the company produced 1,000 names for a Connecticut campaign to meet a write-in ballot requirement, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram then reported, and 900 of them signed up.

Few in Washington campaign circles recognized the work of Buxton, although it lists thousands of other clients in the public and private sector, including hospitals and local governments.

HBT: A-Rod 'phoniest' in MLB, poll of players says

Sports Illustrated continues to trickle out the results of player polling they did. We?ve had the most overrated, the most underrated, the meanest, the most eccentric and the most popular. Now, the phoniest: like you needed to tell me it was gonna be A-Rod?

Rodriguez finished first with?26% of the vote, followed by Nick Swisher with 14%, Nyjer Morgan with?11%, Brian Wilson at 9% and Brandon Phillips at 5%.

Obviously (a) it?s not scientific; and (b) based on some of the anonymous player comments that come out when these things are published, players are as catty as a sewing circle. ?It has the added benefit of being totally meaningless.
